Buckeye, which includes Ohio Buckeye Aesculus glabra, Yellow Buckeye Aesculus octandra, Red Buckeye Aesculus pavia, Painted Buckeye Aesculus sylvatica, and the common Horse-chestnut Aesculus hippocastanum. None of the buckeyes should be confused with chestnuts or any other edible nut. While buckeyes are readily eaten by squirrels, they are poisonous to humans.

Buckeye's are one of the first trees to start budding in the spring.
